Partners Darrell Cochran and Kevin Hastings recently reached a $2 million settlement on behalf of a woman who was sexually assaulted in foster care as a ward of the State of Washington.
After being neglected by her birth family, the State of Washington placed the plaintiff into foster care at the age of 2. She remained a ward of the State of Washington until age 18. Throughout her foster placement, she was sexually assaulted on various occasions, yet the State failed to intervene by conducting an investigation or removing the plaintiff from her foster care placement where the abuse was occurring.
The lawsuit was filed in the Superior Court of the State of Washington for King County.
